Job description
Minimum qualification/requirement A PhD in Archaeology or cognate environmental discipline. An archaeological scientist with active research projects Proven ability to publish in local and international journals, some experience in teaching undergraduate courses face to face and online, some postgraduate supervision and administrative portfolio management preferable. Expertise in ecology, palaeoenvironment or environmental archaeology is preferred. Specialisations for this position would incorporate modern quantitative methods including archaeological sciences. Archaeological sciences encompass a broad range of specialisations that incorporate scientific analysis, for example ZooMS, isotope analysis, pollen and phytolith analysis, residue analysis, ceramic analysis, archaeometallurgy, ancient DNA, geospatial analysis, predictive modelling, AI applications, or machine learning. Ability to attract research grant funding. Excellent oral and written skills in English Valid drivers license (at least code B) Personal attributes The ideal candidate should have the following: Collegiality and willingness to work with other members of staff. Ability to work in collaborative research network. Enthusiasm and passion for excellence in teaching and research Key Performance Areas The candidate is required to: Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Archaeology and Environmental Studies. Apply appropriate teaching techniques to stimulate students' interest and enhance their experience. Generate research publications and related outputs Supervise postgraduate students Undertake administration of academic functions Contribute to academic citizenship activities to enhance the Archaeology and Environmental Studies professions. Contribute to strengthening the Archaeology and Environmental Studies programmes in the school, such as course development, course assessment and curriculum review. Participate in the School and University Committees as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned.
