Job description

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Lecturer in Early Childhood Care and Education to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning, facilitating engaging classroom and practical learning experiences, and supporting students in achieving academic success. The role includes planning and presenting lectures, developing learning materials, preparing and marking formative and summative assessments, providing academic support and feedback, and maintaining accurate academic records. The lecturer will contribute to curriculum development and review, quality assurance processes, module moderation, and continuous programme improvement to ensure that the curriculum remains current, relevant, and aligned with industry and regulatory requirements. Where applicable, the successful candidate will also supervise teaching practice or Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) placements and build relationships with schools and other industry partners. The role requires active participation in departmental meetings, academic planning, student recruitment activities, and institutional initiatives, while promoting a positive, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment. The successful candidate will uphold the highest standards of professionalism and contribute to the achievement of institutional goals through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to academic excellence. Minimum Requirements* A minimum NQF Level 6 Diploma qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education (A Bachelor's degree or higher will be advantageous).

  • Relevant teaching and/or industry experience in Early Childhood Care and Education.
  • Knowledge of higher education teaching, learning and assessment practices.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to use learning management systems and educational technologies.
  • A commitment to student success, continuous professional development, and academic excellence.
