Job description

We are seeking a Linux administrator for our client in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Requirements -

Grade 12
Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: Usually 2 to 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration.
Certifications: Certifications like Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) are preferred
We are currently migrating our Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtualisation Platform (RHEV ) to the following two virtualisation platforms:
Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation – Red Hat OpenShift Kubernetes Engine (OKE)
Nutanix AOS(Acropolis Operating System) Virtualisation using Nutanix AHV (Acropolis Hypervisor) hosting Red Hat Virtual Machines
Exposure to ENTUITY and APPDYMANICS should be advantageous
Daily health checks
Attend to tickets
Triage and resolve incidents, service requests, and change requests in the ticketing queue.
Communicate status and resolution to clients.
Escalate to senior/L3 or vendors when needed.
Administering email servers, i.e Zimbra, to ensure reliable and efficient email services.
Installation and setup of technology
Deploy and configure tools like Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, monitoring agents (xymon and iris).
Write/update Ansible playbooks for patching, config management, and automation.
Document the setup for handover.
Installing and configuring Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance, stability, and reliability on the RHEV platform (we recently migrated to Nutanix and Red Hat OpenShift)
Performing regular system updates and applying security patches to address vulnerabilities and maintaining compliance with security policies.
Creating and managing user accounts, centralized authentication, group-based permissions, password policies, and securing access controls using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

Vendor meetings and training
