Job description
VACANCY: Locum Housekeeper
Mitchells Plain Transitional Care Facility (MPTCF) - Managed by Aquarius Health Care NPC/NPO.
Mitchell's Plain Transitional Care Facility is situated on the premises of Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital. The facility has 148 beds, responsible for the rehabilitation of patients, wound care, palliative and convalescent care.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties may vary by assignment or contract.)
- Carry out scheduled cleaning tasks this includes sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning windows, etc
- Notify Housekeeping Team leader/Supervisor of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms by washing down and properly sanitizing walls, floors and toilets
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical products and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Clean kitchens – refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, remove garbage and medical waste in accordance with established procedures
- Follow all regulations, policies, and procedures regarding food handling, personal hygiene, safety, and proper sanitation
- Ensure constant cleanliness of dining areas, floors, tables and kitchen equipment
- Hostess Duties - Dishing of food
- As needed on different(rotating between) shifts
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Matric/Grade 12
- Proven work experience as a cleaner/hostess
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Follow health and safety regulations
- Must be available to work 12 hours shifts, weekends and public holidays when needed.

- In addition to the above tasks, the official has to perform any other task (s) not mentioned above as long as it is within his/her capabilities and scope of work.
