About the School
Our client is a well-established Independent Preparatory and College situated in the North-Western suburbs of Johannesburg. The school specialises in assisting children of average or above-average intellectual ability who are experiencing academic difficulties or certain learning challenges. Following the CAPS curriculum as set out by the Department of Basic Education, the school provides a supportive and structured environment where learners are empowered to reach their full academic potential.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to teach Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy. This is a 3-month locum position for Term 3, running from 21 July to 23 September. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, learner-centred instruction that accommodates diverse learning needs, while maintaining academic rigour aligned with the CAPS framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy lessons in line with the CAPS curriculum
- Adapt teaching methods to support learners with varied academic challenges
- Assess, monitor and report on learner progress
- Foster a positive, structured and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents and support staff to ensure holistic learner development
Qualifications & Experience
- A degree (NQF Level 7) and PGCE or B.Ed (FET) with a specialisation in the subjects to be taught
- SACE registration and a police clearance are requirements
- Previous teaching experience in Mathematics and/or Mathematical Literacy will be advantageous
- Newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply
- Computer and digital literacy
- First Aid certification will be advantageous
