Job Description Logistics Controller Position Description The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team are seeking to recruit a Logistics Controller to join the Regional Team. The purpose of the role is to plan, coordinate and monitor the movement of mining spares and consumables across the globe and using the SA, China and Dar es Salaam hub corridors, ensuring efficient, cost-effective and legislatively compliant transport and continuous supply to all AME sites.

Responsibilities
- Orchestrate the end-to-end movement of mining spares and consumables along every route feeding from the South Africa, China, Mombasa, Dakar and Dar es Salaam consolidation hubs.
- Build and maintain the delivery and collection trackers so that dispatch timing matches the production and operational needs of each AME operation.
- Keep suppliers, haulers, warehouse teams and site contacts working to a single delivery plan, chasing down anything that threatens on-time arrival.
- Track every inbound and outbound load through the Control Tower, catching slippage early and stepping in to clear delays before they reach site.
- Synchronise stock-replenishment shipments with the procurement, demand-planning and warehousing functions.
- Scope the transport required for shutdowns, maintenance campaigns and capital works including out-of-gauge loads and long-lead capital consignments routing each through the lowest-cost corridor.
- Mobilise expedited shipments whenever production is at risk, choosing the quickest viable mode and corridor to limit downtime.
- Uphold transport law, border-crossing rules and internal policy on every corridor across the current operating footprint of the DRC, Zambia, Tanzania, Mali and Saudi Arabia.
- Own transport cost performance, holding carriers to agreed rates, maximising load fill and consolidating freight.
Qualification Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transport Management.
ExperienceandSkills Requirements
- 5+ years in logistics/transport planning or control - mining or industrial environment preferred.
- Knowledge of sub-Saharan African transport corridors and cross-border/transport legislation
- Experience coordinating transport contractors and managing delivery schedules under production pressure.
- SAP and logistics/transport management system proficiency.
- Excellent planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills across suppliers, carriers, warehouses and site teams.
- Strong problem-solving and expediting capability, especially where production continuity is at risk.
- High attention to detail in tracking, documentation, delivery schedules and compliance requirements.
- Strong reporting skills, including maintaining trackers, dashboards and Control Tower updates.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise urgent shipments in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to escalate risks, delays and exceptions promptly.
