Logistics Controller

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Logistics Controller to coordinate day-to-day transport and logistics operations. The successful candidate must be highly organised, able to work under pressure and comfortable managing drivers, vehicles, customers, suppliers and operational documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics, transport, fleet coordination or a similar operational role.
• Good working knowledge of transport and logistics operations.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to assist with coordinating and managing vehicle breakdowns while drivers are on route.
• Strong computer literacy, with good Microsoft Excel skills essential.
• Must have own reliable transport to and from work.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transport, logistics and delivery activities.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, drivers and other service providers regarding collections, deliveries and operational requirements.
• Coordinate vehicle loading and offloading and provide clear instructions to drivers.
• Monitor drivers and vehicles while on route and assist with resolving operational issues and delays.
• Coordinate on-route vehicle breakdowns, including liaising with mechanics, workshops and relevant service providers.
• Manage and monitor fuel usage and fuel controls, identifying discrepancies or excessive consumption where necessary.
• Maintain accurate control of all transport documentation, including PODs (Proof of Delivery).
• Ensure pre-trip truck and trailer inspections are completed and any defects or concerns are reported and addressed.
• Liaise with clearing agents and relevant parties regarding documentation and shipment requirements.
• Maintain accurate operational records, reports and Excel-based tracking schedules.
• Follow up on outstanding documentation and PODs.
• Communicate delays, breakdowns or delivery issues promptly to the relevant parties.
• Assist management with ensuring efficient use of vehicles, drivers and company resources.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, organised and proactive, with strong attention to detail. They must be able to prioritise multiple operational demands, communicate confidently with drivers and customers, solve problems quickly and remain calm in a fast-paced logistics environment.
