Purpose of the role:
Ivanhoe Marketing is a newly established Commodity marketing, Sales and Logistics entity within the Ivanhoe Group of Companies.
To coordinate, control and monitor daily logistics operations, ensuring all shipments are planned, executed, and tracked in line with operational requirements and service level expectations.
Experience required:
- Minimum Qualification - National Senior Certificate (matric) and relevant qualification advantageous
- A proven track record of success.
- Overborder Road Freight knowledge is essential with knowledge of Commodity Movements being an advantage.
- Knowledge of truck sizes and load capacity
- Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily logistics operations
- Manage the pre-advice of all trucks being captured onto the Software System, including the upkeep of the arrival dates on the system and identify any redundant data.
- Plan movements of Empty trucks being sent to the mine in the evening Convoy.
- Manage all Logistics relating to the movement of cargo by Rail, Rail planning, including the shunting of cargo to the Rail Terminal, and Stock held at the Rail Terminal.
- Ensure LSP volumes are monitored against their committed tonnages and follow up on any potential failings of LSP’s.
- Monitor the arrivals per LSP, ensuring that the LSP split there allocation equally throughout the month.
- Manage the number of Loaded trucks per location, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, moving any excess number of trucks at the Mine to one of the contracted Parking yards.
- Identify risks, delays, or underperformance and intervene
- Ensure overall logistics flow meets service level expectations
Data and Administration
- Analysing data quality entered onto Software System and ensure any potential errors are corrected.
- Ensure Routing data supplied aligns with the overall objective of the Offtaker.
- Assist the mines reception team to validate the truck data for final registration.
- Follow up and Validate all Truck and Rail Manifest on the company’s Software System, ensuring all data inserted is correct and aligns with the companies SOP.
- Follow up and Validate all Port Warehouse Proof of Deliveries on the company’s Software System, ensuring all data inserted is correct and aligns with the companies SOP.
Communication
- Provide daily data relating to LSP Failures (exceeding of daily arrivals, incorrect data captured) and details of the number of trucks Loading / convoyed to the mine, putting on record in case of later disputes.
- Build and maintain relationships with all LSP’s and the Outbound Logistics Loading Team at the Mine.
- Keep all Stakeholders informed in writing of any issues arising.
- Communicate between all parties, including but not limited to, the Mine, Ivanhoe Marketing / Trading and LSP’s and their Site Representatives.
- Capture all Comments inserted under the “Diary of Events” ensuring clear understanding for all stakeholders in event of queries being raise.
- Assist and support colleagues, fostering a collaborative and cooperative team culture.

- Identify improvement opportunities and continually drive improvement
- Ensure adherence to processes by all Stakeholders
- Investigate and resolve operational issues
- Escalate critical problems
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented
