Logistics Coordinator

Role Description To manage the daily execution of coal movements from mine to siding, port and vessel, across both road and rail, ensuring that planned tonnages are dispatched in full, to specification and on schedule. Given the continuous nature of coal movements, a degree of availability outside ordinary working hours is inherent to the role.

Key Responsibilities

•

Order creation and dispatch planning Raise daily transport orders across all source sites and

destinations, ensuring the correct product, tonnage and destination are reflected on every order.

• Daily availability and requirements planning Assess next-day coal availability per site against train

and road requirements, and issue next-day requirements to the rail contractor and Richards Bay

transporters by 14:30 each day.

• Siding coordination Coordinate build-up ahead of each train, monitor stock positions across all sidings and identify shortfalls timeously to allow corrective action.

• Transporter management Provide daily tonnage updates to road transporters, monitor performance

against allocation, and resolve breakdowns, delays and turnaround issues as they arise.

• Stakeholder engagement Serve as the daily point of contact across a broad spectrum of internal and external parties, ranging from executive management, mine and port operations personnel and rail contractors through to weigh bridge operators and truck drivers. The incumbent must be able to adjust their communication style appropriately to each audience while maintaining a consistent and professional standard of engagement.

• Contractor performance reporting Compile and issue weekly performance reports reflecting required versus actual tons by route, together with daily shortfall tracking for management use.

• Weighbridge management Oversee weigh bridge operations, dispatch capture accuracy, over- and

underload handling, and monthly dispatch reconciliations.

• Operational issue resolution Act as first line of response on any matter impeding the movement of road or rail consignments, and escalate only those issues that warrant management intervention.

Requirements

•

BCom or an equivalent business degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management etc.

•

Advanced Excel proficiency, including lookups, pivot tables and the handling of large data sets.

•

Strong numeracy, accuracy under pressure

•

Demonstrated ability to communicate credibly and build working relationships at all levels

•

Availability outside ordinary working hours as the operation demands

•

A valid driver’s licence

•

Willingness to relocate to Middelburg, Mpumalanga if from elsewhere
