In support of IMSAf’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for Logistics Optimisation Engineer in the Procurement and Logistics Department.
This role is responsible to study, analyze, design, plan, lead and drive the implementation of key business strategies for the entire Supply Chain Function with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency and growing a sustainable supply chain. It is also responsible for planning inventory flow, warehouse layouts and the design of product packaging to maximise shipping efficiency, and to construct the most streamlined, and Cost efficient method of material conveyance and distribution possible.
Minimum Requirements

B-Tech in Engineering (Industrial Engineering will be advantageous)

Minimum 3 years’ operational experience relative to new model introduction
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Environment
-
Computer Literacy, advanced knowledge and experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, AutoCad and AI
-
Operational and supervisory experience relative to Third Party on-site service providers
-
Proficiency in concept Layout development
-
Proficiency in transforming concepts and ideas into concrete and optimized solutions

Strong project management capability
-
Sound knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Systems and Supply Chain Principles with a good understanding of Automotive Systems and Lean Enablers

Knowledge and experience in Warehouse Management System and understanding the key components of the WMS and how it supports the Supply Chain Operation

Operational knowledge of production process and quality management systems

Understanding of ISO Quality Management System (ISO 9001)

Ability to work overtime
-
Must be flexible to changes in work content and responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities

Implementation of Strategic Projects
- Lead strategic Supply Chain and Logistics optimisation projects from planning to implementation.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, risks and ESG activities with stakeholder alignment
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, suppliers and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Ensure projects meet timing, cost, quality, safety and operational targets.
- Conduct feasibility studies, business case evaluations and operational improvement initiatives.

Production Launch Support to build to plan
- Ensure internal and external material flow activities relevant to a pilot build (launch) through understanding fitment point and the supply methodology to be used.
- Develop packaging solution for Plan for Every Part that optimizes internal supply chain flows and local and international transportation.
- Assists to determine the supply methodology for new parts prior to SORP to aid readiness of operations by means of looking at current methodology and adjusting where necessary.

Safety: Achieve Zero Safety and Ergonomic Incidents
- Drive the resolution of Supply Chain ergonomic concerns during the development of changes to material supply methodologies
- Facilitate input and problem resolution processes to drive actions to close items and elevate concerns if required
- Promote and ensure safe work practices for contractors in line with IMSAf’s contractor management procedures and practice

New model and midyear model refresh change launches and readiness

Project Management: Plan and manage projects to agreed program milestones

LMS: Execution of Supply Chain Lean Enablers internally in the Plant
- Optimization of material supply routes and Simple Process Flow, focusing on minimizing the number of part touches to the point of fitment, and simplifying supply routes, processes and increasing digitalization opportunities.
- Elimination / reduction of forklift operations within the Plant with an objective to have fork truck operations confined to warehousing and outside operations.
- Development and execution of internal plant layouts in order of achieving optimised part presentation for Warehousing, VAA, SPS and line side working envelopes.

Continuous improvement & packaging development
- Gather information for the management of CKD Steel Returnable case pipeline through understanding the build plan, monitoring the number of cases being returned to source on a weekly basis, the boxing schedule, and the returnable case stock at source plant.
- Conduct full quarterly case counts whereby all cases in the pipeline are counted and adjustments made to the asset register based on the count results.

Identification and Execution of Logistics Cost Optimization initiatives
- Identify and execute LCO (Logistics Cost optimization) and MCO (Material Cost Optimization) studies and initiatives
- Ensure maintenance and improvement of material supply systems
- Drive and co-ordinate change control activities and ensure that the line / MH are prepared for the changes by understanding where parts need to be presented for fitment or kitting.

ESG Targets: Reduce Environmental Impacts
- Adhere to waste segregation and HCC requirements. Identify and update aspect register for their areas of responsibility, roll out environmental training to team members, keep records of training, and close environmental gaps within their areas of responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to dangerous goods requirements.Reduce environmental impact by selecting packaging with minimal disposable content and or reducing the packaging material.
