We are seeking a Logistics Specialist to join our CNS Logistics Africa team. You will be responsible for executing domestic and international logistics operations for screening media and related consumables products, including cross-border exports, domestic transport, and imports, supporting customer deliveries across Africa. This role serves as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

In this position, you will report to the Senior Logistics Specialist.

This position is mainly located in Germiston, Gauteng , with occasional travel to the Centurion office as required.

TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

You will join CNS Logistics Africa, a newly established team within the ROH ECA & AFR Regional Operating Hub , as part of Metso's Consumables Supply Chain Organization. Regional Operating Hubs bring logistics execution and decision-making closer to our customers, improving responsiveness and accountability at a regional level.

You will help implement standardized logistics processes, reporting, and operational controls aligned with the Consumables Supply Chain operating model. You will contribute to building consistent ways of working across the Africa region while supporting safe, compliant, and efficient logistics execution.

Our team operates across South Africa, Ghana, Zambia, and Namibia entities and is built on a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Production Planning, Warehouse Operations, Order Management, Global Logistics Sourcing, Finance, Customs Brokers, Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), Business Lines, and Sales to ensure the timely and efficient movement of goods across Africa.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Execute the planning, booking, monitoring, and dispatch of goods from manufacturing facilities, warehouses, supplier locations, or other approved dispatch points across South Africa, ensuring shipments are released accurately, efficiently, and on time.

Execute cross-border export operations from South Africa to customer destinations across Africa, applying knowledge of SARS export procedures, customs requirements, border operations, transit requirements, destination country import regulations, and Incoterms 2020.

Execute domestic transport operations, including inbound movements to manufacturing facilities and outbound movements to distribution centres, warehouses, suppliers, or customer locations across South Africa.

Execute intercompany and inventory transfer shipments between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and distribution centres where required.

Execute multimodal transportation solutions across road, ocean, and air freight, selecting the most appropriate transport mode based on cost, urgency, shipment requirements, and customer needs.

Manage FCL/LCL container movements, breakbulk shipments, heavy, oversized, or irregularly shaped mining equipment, including abnormal load permits, escorts, and route approvals, as well as dangerous goods in accordance with IATA and IMDG requirements.

Execute import operations for inbound shipments, managing customs documentation and import requirements.

Support temporary imports, repairs and returns, letters of credit, and other specialised import processes where required.

Issue Certificates of Origin for outbound shipments and coordinate with Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) on SARS export declarations and inspection companies on Certificates of Conformity (COC). Review export permits, bills of lading, ATA/TIR Carnets, transit bonds, and other trade documentation prepared by LSPs to ensure accuracy and compliance before shipment.

Track and proactively manage shipments to customer sites, warehouses, and other delivery locations across Africa, resolving transport issues and communicating delivery status to stakeholders.

Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Production Planning, Procurement, Warehouse Operations, Vendors, Logistics Service Providers, logistics teams at supplying locations and customers to support delivery commitments and operational priorities.

Support cross-trade shipments, customer-nominated logistics service providers, cargo insurance activities, freight claims, and emergency response requirements for transport disruptions or urgent customer needs.

Maintain accurate shipment records in SAP TM and related systems, and monitor logistics execution performance using this data, contributing to efficient, compliant, and cost-effective logistics execution.

Prepare freight estimates and negotiate transport rates in collaboration with Global Logistics Sourcing, within approved commercial agreements.

Execute shipment bookings and process LSP invoices where required.

Monitor and evaluate Logistics Service Provider (LSP) performance against agreed service levels, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and collaborate with the Global Logistics Sourcing team to support LSP performance reviews and the implementation of agreed improvement initiatives.

Support SARS compliance requirements, internal and external audits, and maintain accurate logistics documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.

Escalate complex customs matters, routing decisions, non-standard shipments, regulatory issues, and significant customer escalations to the Senior Logistics Specialist.

WHO YOU ARE

Education & Experience:

Matric (Grade 12)

Diploma or degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or International Trade (or equivalent experience).

5+ years' experience in logistics, freight forwarding, and import/export documentation, including domestic (local) road transport, ideally within mining equipment or industrial manufacturing.

WHAT SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS (HARD AND SOFT) ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE?

Hard Skills:

Working knowledge of SARS export procedures, Incoterms 2020, cross-border customs, transit, and documentation and import requirements across African markets, and third-party inspection processes (e.g., Bureau Veritas, Intertek).

Strong knowledge of multimodal freight operations (road, ocean, air), cross-border shipment execution, and abnormal load/oversized cargo permitting, including dangerous goods regulations (IATA/IMDG).

Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP TM preferred), invoice processing systems (e.g., Basware or equivalent), and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Exposure to cross-trade shipments is advantageous but not essential.

Soft Skills:

Customer focus: Proactively communicate delivery status, resolve transport issues, and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
