Job description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Long Haul Coordinator to support the effective coordination of distribution activities across South Africa
The successful candidate will coordinate with third-party transport providers, ensure efficient movement of goods, monitor delivery performance, analyse operational data, and maintain clear communication with all relevant stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and ensure the correct number of third-party vehicles are arranged for planned loads
- Support planners with the preparation and updating of weekly delivery plans
- Monitor and ensure third-party transporters consistently meet agreed load targets
- Track and monitor all third-party deliveries while in transit
- Ensure products are distributed accurately and within the required timeframes
- Investigate customer and operational complaints and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Maintain and update transport rates in accordance with fuel price changes
- Analyse transporter performance and identify opportunities for improved efficiency
- Support future pricing reviews and participate in preferred-supplier processes
- Ensure transport invoices are processed and paid on time, while resolving any discrepancies or disputes
- Conduct regular performance reviews with third-party transport suppliers
- Ensure transport claims relating to in-transit damages are investigated and closed out promptly
- Liaise with the Loading Supervisor regarding loading plans and progress
- Perform other duties and responsibilities relevant to the role as required
Qualifications & Skills
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
- Previous logistics experience within the transport industry will be advantageous
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- SAP experiencewill be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering excellent service
- Enthusiastic, self-disciplined, and self-motivated
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
