Job description
Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist Full Time (36 hours per week) Band 5 £34,544 - £43,039 Annex 21 (depending on experience) For trainees, where periods of training last for between one and four years, pay will be adjusted as follows:
- up to one year (365 days) prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
- more than one (366 days+) but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate;
- more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate;
- more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career within healthcare, supporting vital mortuary services. As a trainee, you will assist experienced staff in post-mortem examinations, specimen handling, and maintaining high standards of health and safety.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in science, excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Previous experience is preferred but full training will be provided. You will be expected to follow the APT training programme which is fully supported by NHS Grampian.
You should be comfortable working in sensitive environments and demonstrate resilience, empathy, and professionalism.
