Machine Fitter

MAIN FUNCTION: The Machine Fitter will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repairs, align and overhaul CNC machines and associated mechanical systems to ensure safe, reliable and efficient production operation with minimum downtime. His expertise will also utilize were needed in the plants.

DUTIES AND RERSPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on CNC machining centres, lathes and related equipment.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble machine components.
• Replace bearings, ball screws, linear guides, couplings belts, gears, seals, encoders, scales and other mechanical parts.
• Align spindles, slides, and assemblies according to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical faults on machining equipment.
• Must be willing to work overtime when needed.

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Must have Grade 12 Matric at least with N3 qualification.
• Trade test certificate – Fitter/Fitter & Turner/Mechanical Artisan.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience maintaining CNC machines.
• Knowledge of Fanuc or similar CNC-controlled machines is advantageous.
• Understand hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Perform machine alignment and leveling.
• Good physical strength and hand-eye coordination with good time management, critical, and interpersonal skills.
• Apply preventative maintenance principles.
• Ensure Machines meet operational and safety requirements before handover.
• Identify root causes of machine failures and recommend corrective actions.
