Maintenance Artisan - Diesel Mechanic - Rainbow Chicken

Role Purpose:

• Rainbow Chicken is looking for a Maintenance Artisan to join our KZN Agriculture Division. We are looking for a qualified experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. To ensure the effective maintenance, repair, and optimal functioning of all diesel‑powered vehicles, equipment, and machinery used across poultry production sites. The successful incumbent should have strong supervisory experience to manage a team and work closely with production team.

Required Qualifications:

• Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic/Motor Mechanic
• Drivers license - code 10 (compulsory)

Required Experience:

• Minimum 3 - 5 years' post trade experience as a Mechanic/Technician preferably at a dealership or service centre.
• Must have qualified experience in tractors, vehicles, TLB repairs and services.
• Supervisory Experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge in Auto Electrical & DC circuitry on Vehicles
• Prepare and manage vehicles for COF.
• Maintain the regional fleet and always ensure in a presentable and roadworthy condition.
• Regular inspections of all vehicles and monitoring of driver behaviour and fuel usage.
• Perform welding operations when required
• Start and maintain necessary documentation, records, and information
• Assist in the development of production maintenance and assembly manuals
• Provide detailed feedback, revision sketches
• Training and guiding of company employees
• Diagnose, service, and repair vehicles and their systems such as mechanical, air brake systems, transmissions, and pneumatic systems
• Performs repairs and maintenance on HDV & LDV vehicles including TLB & Tractors
• Able to work Standby & emergency road calls to make repairs on Vehicles
• Carry out multi point inspection checks on vehicles
• Make up and manage driver inspection check lists
• Manage License renewals of all vehicles before expiry date
• Able to adjust/replace Brade Discs, Disc Pads, Drums, Brake Shoes
• Replace Wear and tear items viz. Wiper Blades, Lamps, Brakes
• Carry out greasing and lubrication on all grease points and lubrication systems
• Carry out servicing on vehicles incl Filter Changes, oil Changes, Brake Fluid drain and top up.
• Able to carry out engine flush/coolant flush
• Ensure Vehicle Log Books are available and up to date.
• Ability to communicate on all levels and manage a team
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Ability to work systematically.
• Ability to prioritize workload.
