Job description
We are seeking a proactive and technically inclined Maintenance Assistant to join our facility team. You will support the maintenance department in ensuring our bakery equipment remains operational, safe, and efficient. This role is critical to minimizing downtime and maintaining the production flow in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance: Assist in executing the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedule for mixers, ovens, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
- Breakdown Support: Provide immediate, hands-on assistance to the Maintenance Manager/Electrician during equipment breakdowns to restore production as quickly as possible.
- Workshop Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop area. Ensure that tools are accounted for and that spare parts inventories are accurately documented.
- Documentation: Assist with logging maintenance activities, updating equipment history cards, and reporting potential hazards or wear-and-tear.
- General Tasks: Perform basic repairs, lubrication, and adjustments to machinery as guided by senior technical staff.
Requirements
- Shift Work: Must be available for rotating shifts, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure 24/7 or extended production support.
- Technical Aptitude: A foundational understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems. Previous experience in a food manufacturing or industrial environment is highly preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy components or tools safely.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to follow instructions precisely and remain calm and focused during high-pressure breakdown situations.
- Safety First: Commitment to strict adherence to safety protocols (including LOTO—Lockout/Tagout) and food hygiene standards.
