SUMMARY: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance operations within a large hospitality and entertainment facility. The role ensures that all building infrastructure, plant equipment, guest facilities, and engineering services are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of artisans and maintenance personnel, coordinate preventative maintenance activities, manage contractors, and ensure minimal disruption to guests and business operations.
POSITION INFO: Key Responsibilities Maintenance Operations Supervise daily maintenance activities across the facility, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. Coordinate and monitor preventative and corrective maintenance schedules. Ensure prompt response to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests. Conduct routine inspections of all plant, equipment, buildings, and guest areas. Monitor the condition of assets and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements where necessary. Ensure maintenance tasks are completed within agreed service levels. Team Leadership and Supervision Supervise, mentor, and support maintenance technicians, artisans, and general maintenance staff. Allocate work assignments and monitor team productivity. Provide technical guidance and assistance during complex repairs and troubleshooting activities. Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development requirements. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Building and Facility Maintenance Oversee maintenance of: Electrical systems and distribution equipment HVAC and air-conditioning systems Refrigeration equipment Plumbing systems Pumps and water reticulation systems Generators and backup power systems Fire detection and suppression systems Building infrastructure and guest facilities Ensure guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, conference facilities, and back-of-house areas remain in excellent condition. Health, Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation and company policies. Conduct safety inspections and participate in risk assessments. Ensure safe working practices are followed by employees and contractors. Assist in maintaining statutory compliance records and certifications. Participate in emergency response procedures and disaster recovery planning. Contractor Management Coordinate and supervise contractors performing maintenance, repair, and project work. Ensure contractor compliance with site safety and operational requirements. Verify quality of workmanship and completion of contracted work. Assist with obtaining quotations and evaluating service providers. Maintenance Planning and Administration Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, service reports, and equipment histories. Assist with maintenance budgeting and cost control initiatives. Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure critical stock levels are maintained. Generate maintenance reports and provide feedback on equipment performance. Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) where applicable. Energy and Cost Management Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy savings. Implement initiatives to improve equipment efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. Support sustainability and environmental management objectives. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Trade Test Certificate (Electrician, Millwright, Fitter, Refrigeration Technician, Plumber, or related Artisan qualification). National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field will be advantageous. Valid Driver's License. Experience Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience within hospitality, commercial facilities, manufacturing, healthcare, or large infrastructure environments. At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory or team leadership role. Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and maintenance teams. Proven experience in fault-finding and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems. Technical Knowledge Electrical distribution systems. HVAC and refrigeration systems. Plumbing and water reticulation systems. Generators and standby power systems. Fire protection and life safety systems. Building maintenance and facilities management. Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
