Job description
We are seeking an Consultant to join our team.The successful candidate will have strong experience working with government departments, municipalities, public entities and/or other public-sector institutions, with a solid understanding of the requirements associated with Auditor-General audits.
The role will focus on providing audit readiness, audit support, financial reporting, compliance and advisory services to public-sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional public-sector audit and audit-readiness support.
- Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) experience
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Identify audit risks, control weaknesses and potential audit findings.
- Review compliance with PFMA, MFMA, Treasury Regulations and applicable legislation.
- Assist with GRAP/IFRS financial reporting requirements where applicable.
- Perform internal control assessments and recommend improvements.
- Assist with audit queries and preparation of appropriate supporting evidence.
- Review predetermined objectives/performance information and supporting documentation.
- Prepare management reports, working papers, presentations and audit responses.
- Provide technical guidance to finance and management teams.
- Support clients in improving their overall audit outcomes.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and provide guidance to internal staff.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or a related field.
- Professional designation such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, CIA, RA/Registered Auditor or equivalent will be advantageous.
- 4+ years' relevant auditing/public-sector experience, preferably at Manager/Assistant Manager or Senior Consultant level.
- Proven experience working with Auditor-General/AGSA audits or public-sector audit environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- PFMA
- MFMA
- GRAP
- IFRS, where applicable
- Public-sector financial reporting
- Auditing standards and principles
- Internal controls and risk management
