Job description
Job Function:
To lead and execute employee and industrial relations across a multi-industry, client-centric organisation, ensuring a harmonious working environment and minimising employee relations risk in accordance with applicable labour legislation and company policies.
Key performance areas:
- Develop and implement ER/IR strategies aligned to organisational and business unit objectives.
- Champion industrial relations risk management and proactive mitigation strategies.
- Oversee and manage high-volume, complex disciplinary, grievance, performance, and incapacity cases across multiple business units and client sites.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with multiple unions, bargaining councils, and employer organisations.
- Ensure consistent ER practices across Industrial, Hygiene, Hospitality, and Healthcare sectors, adapting to sector-specific requirements.
- Oversee ER practices across a nationally dispersed workforce, ensuring consistency in application and governance.
- Implement corporate governance and compliance frameworks to manage labour-related risk.
- Develop ER capability within line management and HR teams.
Qualifications required:
- Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Law or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Labour Law or Industrial Relations (preferred).
Skills and experience required:
- 5–8 years’ experience in Employee / Industrial Relations.
- Minimum 5 years’ operational leadership or specialist experience.
- Proven track record in complex case management and dispute resolution.
- Experience in CCMA and external dispute forums.
