Job description
The Role JOB PURPOSE:
The Site Manager DC is responsible for leading and controlling the end-to-end performance of the distribution centre to ensure safe, efficient, cost-effective and service-driven operations. The role provides hands-on leadership across daily operational planning, resource allocation, transport coordination, people management, compliance, loss control and continuous improvement to ensure that all activities are executed in line with RTT standards, SOPs and agreed service level requirements. The incumbent is accountable for driving operational discipline, productivity, accuracy, customer service, risk management and sustained profitability while ensuring optimal utilisation of people, fleet, systems and site infrastructure within a 24-hour operational environment.
D****uties:
- Ensure that operations are managed effectively and within SOP’s and SLA’s.
- Daily updating of dashboard statistics for JHB, CPT, DBN, BFN & PE.
- Manage and plan transportation of deliveries, collections & movements.
- Hands-on approach and walking/inspecting of the floor daily.
- Route planning for CDS model.
- Fleet Management – ensure that fleet is managed according to procedures & pulling of fleet reports for JHB, CPT, DBN, BFN & PE.
- Traffic Fine Management – AARTO is managed according to set down principles and guidelines.
- Ensure that internal audit report is managed effectively internally by Day and Night-shift Supervisor.
- Site is a 24hr operation will need to be available after hours if need arises.
- Ensure that all staff at Inhouse is adequately trained to perform job functions as per SOP’s & Inhouse Training Modules (MySheq).
- Personnel and time management.
- Vehicle reporting.
- Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeline targets.
- Comply with laws, regulations & client requirements.
- Audit and maintain inventories, supplies & equipment on site.
- Weekly meetings with client and internal staff.
- Manage SLE reports.
- Manage Vehicle Tracking reports.
- Service level management as per clients’ requirements and Loss control.
Skills and Experience Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum Matric / Grade 12.
- Relevant NQF Level 5 qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport, Operations Management or Warehousing.
- Transport Management Certificate / Diploma advantageous.
- Financial Management or Business Management qualification advantageous.
- Health, Safety and Compliance training advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant logistics, warehousing, distribution or transport operations experience.
- At least 2–3 years’ supervisory or management experience in a DC, warehouse, transport or logistics environment.
- Experience managing multi-shift or 24-hour operations.
- Proven experience in route planning, fleet coordination, dispatch, collections and delivery management.
- Experience managing SLA performance, productivity, cost control, operational reporting and client/service delivery expectations.
- Exposure to inventory control, loss control, audits, compliance and risk management.
Technical / Job-Related Skills
- Strong knowledge of DC operations, logistics processes, transport planning and warehouse workflows.
- Good understanding of SOPs, SLAs, KPIs, SHEQ, audit and compliance requirements.
- Strong people management, shift planning and performance management skills.
- Ability to analyse operational dashboards, fleet reports, productivity reports and service level data.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of logistics, tracking, warehouse or transport management systems advantageous.
