Job description

Client is a leader in the private tertiary education sector in South Africa.

The Strategic Projects Manager will work closely with the CFO and with executives and teams across functions (finance, sales, HR, marketing, operations, governance, etc.) to co-ordinate, manage and deliver strategic finance initiatives timeously, including the payment optimisation program and the introduction of new payment options to drive incremental student growth.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own the effective and timeous implementation of strategic finance projects at EDCO.
  • Co-ordinate and align teams across EDCO functions and external partners to deliver projects timeously.
  • Work closely with the CFO to align and drive project objectives as well as individual actions.
  • Proactively identify and solve potential issues that may impact the success of the projects.
  • Improve the effectiveness of the projects by identifying and driving areas for improvement in process, reporting, people, systems, etc.
  • Keep stakeholders informed and aligned through the project lifecycle.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree or post-graduate qualification in commerce or a scientific discipline from a top university.
  • 8 -10 years’ experience in financial services, ideally with payments or lending experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering strategic projects successfully in a large enterprise.

Skills and Abilities required:

  • A strategic thinker who can get things done in a muti-functional enterprise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to prioritise and focus on the delivery of high-priority actions.
  • Ability to drive others to deliver quality and timeous work.
  • Ability to engage and establish a trusting relationship with senior stakeholders across functions.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
