Job description
The Role Purpose:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring the smooth and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of products. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, organized, and productive warehouse environment, improving operational efficiency, and leading a team to meet business objectives and customer expectations.
Duties:
Warehouse Operations & Order Fulfillment Management
- Lead and manage all warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping products, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer satisfaction standards.
- Continuously improve the efficiency of warehouse workflows to ensure timely order fulfillment, reduce costs, and enhance operational performance.
- Oversee the seamless integration of warehouse operations with the broader supply chain, ensuring accurate inventory levels, effective order processing, and tracking.
- Develop and implement long-term strategies to streamline operations, maximize efficiency, and improve quality, using data-driven insights to inform decisions.
Inventory Management & Strategic Control
- Lead the management of inventory across the warehouse, ensuring optimal stock levels based on sales data, trends, and demand forecasting.
- Implement advanced inventory management techniques to reduce stockouts and overstock situations. Establish policies to minimize inventory discrepancies and maintain data accuracy.
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely and efficient stock replenishment.
- Oversee the management of product returns, exchanges, and damaged goods, ensuring that processes are efficient and accurate.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing warehouse team. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Implement a performance management system to set clear operational targets, conduct regular performance reviews, and create personalized development plans.
- Build a positive warehouse culture that encourages collaboration, continuous learning, and achievement of operational goals.
- Lead safety initiatives in the warehouse, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation to meet business demands, particularly during peak periods, and that staff are properly trained and prepared for evolving needs.
Process Optimization & Innovation
- Spearhead continuous process optimization efforts, using data and technology to drive operational improvements and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies and automation tools to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy.
- Work closely with supply chain, logistics, and IT teams to identify areas where process improvements can be implemented across the entire warehouse
Skills and Experience Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to work long hours.
- Own transport.
- Grade 12
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Logistics and/or Warehousing
- 3- 5 years management experience
Required Knowledge:
- Background in Logistics/Transport.
- Computer literacy.
- Relevant Warehouse or Supply Chain Management qualification
Required Skills:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.
- Proven reasoning skills.
- Team player with initiative.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Strong managerial and leadership skills.
