Job description
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Marina Maintenance Worker to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys physical outdoor work and takes pride in keeping a marina clean, safe and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general marina cleaning and maintenance.
- Inspect and replace mooring lines, shackles and fittings as instructed.
- Clean pontoons, docks, walkways and marina facilities.
- Assist with lifting and replacing anchor chains.
- Assist with operating the work barge and deploying buoys and anchors.
- Perform painting, rust removal and surface preparation.
- Assist with welding, grinding, cutting and other maintenance tasks.
- Carry out basic repairs using hand and power tools.
- Keep the workshop, equipment and maintenance areas clean and organised.
- Report maintenance issues to management.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Assist with any other duties required to keep the marina operating efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver's licence.
- Able to swim.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, honest and punctual.
- Able to work well in a team and follow instructions.
- Able to read and write English.
- Contactable references.
Advantageous
- Previous maintenance or general labour experience.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Basic welding or grinding experience.
- Marine or boating experience.
- Knowledge of knots and mooring lines.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 08:00 – 17:30
- One-hour lunch break
- 15-minute tea break
- Occasional night shifts, weekend work, and public holiday work may be required for marina security watch, emergency maintenance, special events, or operational requirements.
Preference will be given to applicants living in or near Hout Bay.
