Mascor Fuel: Shift Supervisor

Description Mascor is a Company consisting of franchised Fuel divisions throughout KZN and in Mpumalanga. In some areas, the fuel station also has a convenience store, take-away or mini market store offering customers a one-stop solution . Responsibilities Shift and Store Operations

• Open or close the store in accordance with approved procedures and security requirements.
• Conduct shift handovers and communicate shortages, incidents, maintenance issues and outstanding tasks.
• Allocate daily duties, confirm employee coverage and monitor execution throughout the shift.
• Ensure shelves, service areas, tills, storerooms and entrances are clean, organised and ready for trade.
• Monitor refrigeration, lighting, point-of-sale equipment and other store facilities; report faults promptly.
• Ensure company promotions, pricing and displays are implemented accurately.

Customer Service and Sales

• Set and maintain friendly, efficient and professional customer service standards.
• Assist customers and resolve queries, complaints, refunds and returns within delegated authority.
• Support employees during busy periods to maintain prompt service and reduce queues.
• Ensure employees understand current products, promotions and service expectations.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales, availability and the customer experience.

Employee Supervision

• Brief employees at the start of the shift and assign responsibilities according to operational priorities.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, uniform, conduct, productivity and adherence to procedures.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and assist with the induction and training of new employees.
• Address routine performance or conduct concerns promptly and escalate formal matters to management.
• Promote teamwork, fair treatment, clear communication and a customer-focused work environment.
• Confirm that employees take authorised breaks without compromising store coverage.

Cash Handling and Administration

• Issue and verify till floats and ensure cashiers follow approved cash and card procedures.
• Monitor till activity, voids, refunds, discounts, paid-outs and safe drops.
• Complete or oversee shift cash-ups and investigate or report discrepancies immediately.
• Ensure cash, keys, documents and sensitive information are secured at all times.
• Complete shift reports, incident records, checklists and other required administration accurately.

Stock, Merchandising and Loss Prevention

• Monitor stock availability and ensure shelves are replenished, faced up and correctly priced.
• Receive deliveries by checking quantities, quality, documentation and product condition.
• Apply stock rotation principles and monitor expiry dates, damaged goods and temperature-sensitive products.
• Assist with cycle counts, stocktakes, variance investigations and stock adjustments authorised by management.
• Enforce access, key-control and security procedures to minimise theft, wastage and shrinkage.
• Immediately report suspicious activity, significant variances or breaches of procedure.

Health, Safety, Hygiene and Compliance

• Enforce occupational health and safety, hygiene, food-handling and housekeeping requirements.
• Conduct routine checks and ensure aisles, exits, storage areas and workstations remain safe and unobstructed.
• Respond to emergencies, accidents, spillages, security incidents and equipment failures in line with procedure.
• Ensure incidents and injuries are reported, recorded and escalated without delay.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, legal requirements and applicable OK Minimarket operating standards.

Planning and Working Conditions

• Plan shift activities according to trading patterns, staffing levels, deliveries and operational priorities.
• Work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays as required by the store roster.
• Remain on feet for extended periods and perform routine handling of stock within safe working practices.
• Meet daily deadlines relating to store readiness, cash reconciliation, stock control and shift reporting.

Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Qualification

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.

Experience

• At least two years’ retail, supermarket or convenience-store experience, including cashiering and stock-control exposure.
• Previous experience leading or supervising employees is preferred.
• Working knowledge of point-of-sale systems, cash-up procedures, merchandising, stock rotation and basic retail administration.
• Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
