The manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth produces both small and large volume parenterals.
The main purpose of the Material Control Supervisor is to ensure on time supply of materials for production, managing purchasing area and all related activities.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Ensure a reliable flow of materials in accordance with set quality standards and an optimum price to Production to satisfy the production plan. This includes the activity of constantly reviewing the stock-holding, minimum order quantity and re-order levels to ensure stock-holding is sufficient to meet the production plan and taking ultimate responsibility for stock levels in the warehouse
- Manage and control the MRP system on SAP, by running exception reports to ensure accuracy of purchase orders. Execution of MRP actions for materials required for production
- Monitor that the collections are made on time and report any missed collection dates.
- Expedite outstanding orders to ensure on time delivery
- Support in management of vendor performance as well as any vendor queries
- Issue updated monthly forecasts to all suppliers.
- Prepare weekly / monthly reports
- Liaise with receiving staff w.r.t. deliveries and documentation
- Liaise daily with external service providers regarding imported freight
- Maintain collection schedule for Freight forwarders based on all orders placed.
- Follow up with chemistry lab for material release, where applicable
- Action QMS tasks
- From time to time carry out other tasks within the department / factory, which are consistent with the grade, qualification, and training of the incumbent.
People Management
- Manage all personnel in the department and provide ongoing performance feedback to staff as and when required
- Ensure that all personnel in the department is developed and trained as required by the various job functions
- Ensure best working practices within the department
- Set quality and performance KPI’s for the department and monitor the departmental performance on a defined frequency
Quality Management
- Oversee the development, implementation of and the adherence to the Quality Management System for the department
- Ensure compliance to all QM controlled processes and documents
- Represent the department during inspections and audit
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Diploma / Degree in Purchasing / Inventory Management
- Minimum 5 years procurement supervisory experience is required
- Pharmaceutical Industry preferable
- PC Literate – SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
- Understand impact of production plan on purchasing activities as well as material flow into the pharmaceutical warehouse
- Administration Skills
- Manage and execute MRP actions in SAP
