Job description

Pinnacle College Ridge View is a dynamic and growing school community, founded in 2025, where staff have the opportunity to help shape its culture, systems and future from the ground up. As the school continues to grow, several positions will become available from 1 January 2027.

This Mathematics position is a leadership role focused on managing and enhancing the mathematics curriculum within the High School. The successful candidate will oversee effective teaching, learning and assessment practices to ensure strong educational outcomes for students. Experience in an IEB school environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the mathematics curriculum and instructional programmes for the high school, aligned to CAPS, IEB requirements and relevant educational standards.
  • Ensure that teaching, assessment and moderation practices meet IEB expectations and prepare students effectively for the IEB NSC examinations.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to mathematics educators in delivering high-quality instruction and assessments.
  • Lead and facilitate professional development for mathematics teachers to strengthen teaching practice, assessment design and subject knowledge.
  • Monitor student performance and assessment data, identify areas for improvement and implement targeted academic interventions.
  • Engage constructively with parents and the broader school community to promote mathematical literacy, problem-solving, logical reasoning and academic confidence.
  • Remain informed of current educational trends, IEB developments, research and best practice in Mathematics education.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive and accountable departmental culture among staff and students.

Requirements

  • A relevant undergraduate degree in Education, Mathematics, Mathematical Sciences or a related field.
  • SACE registration.
  • Essential: Proven teaching and assessment experience within an IEB school, preferably in the FET phase.
  • Demonstrable experience in curriculum development, assessment and instructional leadership within the FET phase.
  • Sound knowledge of CAPS, IEB assessment requirements, moderation processes and preparation for the IEB NSC examinations.
  • A proven track record of improving student learning outcomes through effective and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse assessment data and use it to inform teaching practice, intervention and curriculum decisions.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in Education, Mathematics, Mathematical Sciences or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a Head of Department, Subject Head or in a comparable leadership role.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching teachers in Mathematics pedagogy and assessment practice.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and resources that enhance Mathematics teaching and learning.
  • Active participation in professional learning communities or networks focused on Mathematics education.
