Location: Assigned Meat Market Branch

Purpose of the Role

To manage the overall operation of the Meat Market, ensuring profitability, excellent customer service, compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, stock control, people management, and achievement of all operational targets.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric).

Relevant meat industry and retail experience.

Experience of meat cutting, merchandising, stock management and food safety standards.

Supervisory or management experience.

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and operational systems).

Strong leadership, communication and people management skills.

What you'll do Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Meat Market.

Ensure the department is merchandised according to company standards.

Maintain product availability and quality at all times.

Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and company policies.

2. Financial Management

Achieve sales, GP%, waste, shrinkage and profitability targets.

Monitor and control departmental expenses.

Manage stock levels and ordering processes effectively.

Analyze sales reports and implement action plans to improve performance.

3. Food Safety and Hygiene Compliance

Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene and health & safety requirements.

Maintain cleanliness standards throughout the department.

Conduct regular inspections and corrective actions where necessary.

Ensure employees use the correct PPE and operate equipment safely.

4. Stock Control and Loss Prevention

Manage stock receiving, storage and rotation.

Control waste, damages and shrinkage.

Conduct regular stock counts and investigate variances.

Implement effective security and loss prevention measures.

5. People Management

Recruit, train and develop employees.

Manage attendance, performance and productivity.

Conduct coaching, counseling and disciplinary processes where required.

Develop succession plans and identify talent for promotion.

6. Customer Service

Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained.

Address customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Build customer loyalty through quality products and service excellence.

7. Leadership and Team Development

Lead by example and promote company values.

Conduct regular team meetings and communicate operational objectives.

Foster a positive and productive working environment.

Motivate employees to achieve departmental targets.

8. Administration and Compliance

Ensure accurate completion of all operational and HR documentation.

Manage employee scheduling and labour costs.

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and workplace rules.
