Qualified Diesel Mechanic

About the Role

A well-established transport and logistics company is seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join its maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential issues.
• Repair and replace defective components, parts, and systems.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety and industry standards.
• Complete job cards, maintenance records, and workshop documentation accurately.
• Work closely with Fleet Controllers and Operations teams to minimize vehicle downtime.
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working order.
• Assist in managing spare parts inventory and reporting parts requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' experience working on heavy commercial vehicles and trailers.
• Experience within the transport, logistics, or fleet industry.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of truck brands such as Volvo, Scania, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Hino, or similar will be advantageous.
• Valid driver's license (Code EC preferred).
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and attend to breakdowns when required.
