Job Summary
Ubuntu Fibre is looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Workshop Supervisor / Mechanic to manage and maintain our fleet of vehicles. The role involves hands-on mechanical work on trucks and bakkies, along with overseeing the daily operations of the workshop to ensure efficiency, safety, and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing on trucks, bakkies, and company vehicles
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs effectively and efficiently
- Manage and oversee daily workshop operations
- Supervise workshop staff and assign tasks
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with regulations
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Monitor and control stock of parts, tools, and workshop supplies
- Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules to reduce downtime
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair needs when required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic (trucks and light commercial vehicles)
- Workshop supervisory or management experience is an advantage
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules and safety standards
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or higher advantageous)
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate (Motor or Diesel Mechanic)
- Experience working in a fleet or logistics environment
