Job description

About the role

DUFP is seeking a proactive and well-organised Membership Communications & Events Assistant Intern. The intern will support communication with members and assist with the planning, promotion and coordination of online and in-person events.

This role is ideal for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoys communicating with people, organising activities and working collaboratively.

Key responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with current and prospective members.
  • Respond to membership enquiries and provide relevant information.
  • Prepare member announcements, invitations, reminders and follow-up messages.
  • Keep membership contact details and communication records organised.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating workshops, networking sessions and other member events.
  • Manage event registrations, schedules and participant communications.
  • Coordinate with speakers, partners, volunteers and attendees.
  • Help prepare event materials, presentations and promotional content.
  • Support events while they are taking place and help resolve participant enquiries.
  • Collect feedback and prepare short post-event summaries.
  • Work with the wider team to improve member engagement and participation.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage several tasks.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to learn, receive feedback and take initiative.
  • Experience with member communication, customer service, community engagement or event coordination is beneficial but not essential.
  • Familiarity with email platforms, social media, online meeting tools or AI-assisted communication tools would be an advantage.

Pay: R6 949,00 - R19 407,00 per month
