Metals Optimisation Engineer

• Optimise scrap consumption, metal recovery, yield, and pig utilisation.

• Lead and implement the Gross Mass Reconciliation process to ensure full metal accountability across CDR operations.

• Analyse and investigate mass balance variances and implement sustainable corrective actions.

• Drive inventory accuracy, governance, stock reconciliations, and inventory reduction initiatives.

• Lead process optimisation and continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, quality, and cost performance.

• Align scrap availability and inventory levels with production and casting requirements.

• Develop dashboards, KPIs, and management reports to support operational decision-making.

• Identify and eliminate process bottlenecks using Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints principles.

• Collaborate with Operations, Planning, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, Finance, and IT to optimise end-to-end material flow.

• Support strategic projects, digitalisation initiatives, and operational excellence programmes.

• A degree in Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.

• Minimum 8 years manufacturing experience with at least 5 years in process optimisation, inventory management, metal accounting, production planning, or continuous improvement.

• Experience in aluminium manufacturing, remelt operations, casting, or metals processing will be advantageous.

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ERP systems, Power BI, inventory management, and mass balance principles.

This positions the role as the single point of accountability for scrap optimisation, inventory governance, and metal accountability, making Gross Mass Reconciliation a central responsibility rather than just an inventory activity.
