Job description

Location: Various sites
Employment Type: Contract (project-based)

Job Overview

We are looking for reliable and experienced Meter Readers and Technicians to support utility revenue management projects. The role involves visiting assigned properties to record water or electricity meter readings, report meter-related issues, and deliver credit control notices.

Some positions may also include electricity disconnections and reconnections, depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

Visit assigned households and businesses to capture accurate water or electricity meter readings
Identify and report faulty, tampered, or inaccessible meters
Deliver credit control and related customer notices
Perform electricity disconnections and reconnections (where applicable)
Follow safety, quality, and reporting procedures at all times
Meet daily targets and reporting requirements

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
At least 2 years’ experience in meter reading or electrical-related work
Valid driver’s license with experience driving a manual vehicle
Qualified Electrician with a Red Seal Trade Test Certificate
Physically fit and comfortable working in the field

Advantageous Experience

3 years’ experience in revenue management projects within local government or municipalities

Key Skills and Attributes

Good communication and customer service skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong understanding of safety procedures
