Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of

MIC Basketball – Sport Co-ordinator and Grade 1-7 Physical Education Teacher within the

Primary School Sports Department. We seek an energetic, dedicated and professional Physical

Education specialist with a passion for basketball, learner development and the promotion of

healthy, active lifestyles.

Minimum Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Physical Education, Sport Science, Human Movement

Science and PGCE.

• Basketball coaching qualification or recognised accreditation (advantageous).
• Proven basketball coaching experience in a co-educational school and club level.
• Qualification in Sport Management, Sport Administration or Sports Coaching

(advantageous).

• Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Strong knowledge of sports safety, injury prevention and emergency procedures.
• Current and SACE.
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach an additional primary school subject will be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities

Basketball Coaching & Learner Development

• Deliver high-quality basketball coaching programmes.
• Develop learners' technical skills, tactical understanding and sportsmanship.
• Plan and conduct structured training sessions.
• Monitor learner progress, attendance and performance.
• Provide constructive feedback to learners and parents.
• Encourage learner participation and foster a positive sporting culture.

Physical Education

• Teach engaging and curriculum-aligned Physical Education lessons for Grades 1–7.
• Create a safe, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
• Maintain learner assessments, attendance records and progress reports.
• Promote positive learner behaviour and discipline.

Sports Coordination

• Manage school basketball teams, including team selection and match preparation.
• Coordinate fixtures, tournaments and friendly matches.
• Prepare seasonal fixture lists in consultation with the Head of Department.
• Allocate coaches and communicate schedules to learners, parents and staff.

Administration & Leadership

• Maintain records of learner participation and achievements.
• Oversee basketball equipment and report maintenance requirements.
• Ensure learner safety and implement appropriate medical precautions.
• Report programme progress to the Head of Department.
• Contribute to school newsletters, social media and promotional activities.
• Attend staff meetings, school functions and professional development opportunities.
