The Midstream SA Finance Manager will support the General Manager Midstream in the execution of the business strategic agenda as well as ensuring the delivery of key business facing finance activities, including but not limited to, driving performance interventions within the business. The Midstream SA Finance Manager will also work closely with the local finance and business teams to design and deploy our finance strategy and policies. Job Responsibilities: As Finance manager, serves as the ‘’divisional CFO’’ and strategic finance partner to the General Manager Midstream, providing commercial and financial leadership to support the delivery of business strategy, sustainable value creation, operational excellence and long-term growth. A core member of the Midstream SA Leadership Team, shaping business direction through insightful financial stewardship, strategic challenge and data-driven decision support, while driving accountability for financial performance, capital efficiency and value realisation. Leads the translation of business strategy into robust financial plans, budgets, forecasts and longer-term strategic outlooks, ensuring alignment between operational priorities, capital allocation decisions and shareholder value objectives. Provides executive leadership on business performance, distilling complex financial and operational information into clear insights, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, and recommending performance interventions to drive delivery of annual commitments and longer-term strategic objectives. Accountable for the end-to-end planning and performance management agenda across Midstream SA, supported by the Planning & Performance Management organization. To ensure meticulous forecasting, target setting, performance tracking and effective management of business outcomes, including cash delivery. Provides financial leadership and challenge in the monitoring, optimisation and value realisation of the Integrated Supply and Optimisation Model (iSOM), ensuring operational decisions are informed by sound commercial, financial and value-based analysis, and that optimisation opportunities across the supply chain are identified and captured. Acts as a trusted advisor to business leadership on strategic decisions, investment prioritisation, business development opportunities, operational optimisation, supply chain performance and value enhancement initiatives. Partners closely with the M&C Business Partner and wider value chain leadership to optimise integrated planning, improve profitability, enhance working capital performance and drive enterprise-wide decision-making across the fuels value chain. Provides financial leadership and governance over capital investment decisions, ensuring the integrity of cases, robust evaluation of investment opportunities, appropriate risk assessment and effective capital deployment in support of strategic priorities. Drives a culture of performance excellence by challenging assumptions, identifying value creation opportunities and influencing strategic actions that improve financial outcomes, cash generation, return on investment and long-term business competitiveness. Represents finance at senior leadership forums, providing independent insight, strategic challenge and commercial guidance to support informed decision-making across the Midstream business and ensure alignment between financial objectives and operational delivery. Job Qualifications: Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills to enable effective collaboration and ability to influence people at all levels of the organisation Strong numerical and analytic skills, business acumen and understanding of business drivers Ability to derive and clearly present conclusions and recommendations from incomplete data Aware of key internal policies and external standards (existing and emerging) across role scope Experience with business strategy execution and finance functional support Understanding of technical accounting knowledge and the application thereof Understanding of the principles of continuous improvement & process excellence Experience within the relevant business model, understanding of the key business drivers and emerging external landscape. Able to support the strategic direction of the division and influence key internal and external stakeholders within this context Business and commercial acumen across core bp businesses and understanding of the integrated value chains within, including understanding the key regional dynamics Strong level of awareness of the local regulatory frameworks in which the business teams operate Have the vital skills and ability to build capability, coach a diverse group of team members and drive performance without direct team accountability A passion for working with cross culture teams, inspiring and motivating people to deliver results without direct team accountability Support the bpSA CFO in developing future talent pools both within embedded finance and global shared services teams Support a one-team culture across key Finance teams, building collaborative relationship with global shared services teams Working closely with business on understanding strategic context and support required Setting the Midstream SA finance priority areas based on the partnership with business Clear and concise communicator – both verbal communication and also ability to prepare presentations to frame purposeful discussions Promotes a continuous improvement culture – eliminating interfaces and duplications where possible, simplifying activities, embracing digital automation, and utilizing new digital skills to enable faster, more focused decision making Allocation of resources, working with a longer-term view to achieve company strategic objectives, strong decision making abilities and able to balance competing priorities Good level of problem-solving skills required. Examples include: Finding resolutions / recommendations for key judgements / evaluations Solution design decisions for new requirements and driving integration across key functions / enablers Strong financial, conceptual and analytical skills Ability to assess the trade-off between risk and commercial opportunities Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others. Examples include: Relationship building - Cross cultural sensitivity; a team player, with an ability to partner across multiple dimensions and stakeholder groups, build strong relationships based on trust and honest discussion (Influencing) Ability to speak up, listen up and act where required. Hold others to account (values/culture/compliance) Ability to drive and lead others through change, ability to deal with ambiguity Communication (verbal and written) - Good command of written and spoken English Essential education: CPA / CA / CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification Desirable criteria: Strong relevant financial reporting and commercial performance experience Solid understanding of accounting and internal control frameworks Self-starter with an ability to manage several priorities and work independently with limited guidance Adaptable and able to network and build effective relationships with proven integration skills across Finance and non-Finance teams Fuels Value Chain or related business experiences are preferred Why join our team!
