Job description
Overview The main purpose of a Miller Assistant is to support the Head/Shift Miller in ensuring safe, hygienic, and efficient grain milling operations. They handle daily plant duties, monitor machinery, and perform quality control tests to produce high-quality flour.
Responsibilities
- Monitor machine efficiency.
- Check vitamin dosages and flour quality.
- Assist Miller with maintenance of plantsifters, filters and conveyors.
- Perform all other duties assigned by Miller.
- Prepare moisture and quality control when required.
- Report deviation to the Miller.
- Proactively prevent chokes and downtime.
- Operate Mill Scada.
- Flexibility to learn from the Silo, Lab and Packing to have a full understanding of the whole process.
- Relieve Miller when necessary.
- Maintain housekeeping.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 preferably with Maths and Science.
- Milling Qualification will be an added advantage.
