Millwright
We are seeking a highly skilled Millwright (Maintenance Manager) to oversee our food manufacturing facility's technical operations and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who balances technical expertise with a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The Role
As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the continuous improvement of plant reliability. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all production machinery, utilities, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime while strictly adhering to food safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
· Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule and predictive maintenance strategies.
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work aligns with SANS standards and the OHS Act, specifically regarding Regulation 9 (Pressure Equipment) and electrical safety.
· Food Safety Integration: Work closely with the Quality team to ensure maintenance activities comply with HACCP, FSSC 22000, and general GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
· Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and upskill the maintenance team, including electricians, millwrights, and technicians.
· Project Management: Oversee new equipment installations and facility upgrades, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
· Resource Management: Manage the maintenance budget, spare parts inventory, and external service providers.
Required Qualifications & Experience
· Education: National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
· Certification: Red Seal Certificate required
· Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of maintenance experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
· Technical Knowledge: Understanding of automated production lines and PLC systems.
· Compliance: Experience with South African National Standards (SANS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation.
