POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced and competent Millwright to join our maintenance team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, repair and optimisation of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment to ensure maximum plant availability and minimise production downtime.

A key requirement of the position is proven experience working with and supervising an Artisan Aid, including the ability to delegate tasks, provide technical guidance and ensure that work is carried out safely and correctly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform planned, preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.

Attend to electrical and mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment to operational condition as quickly and safely as possible.

Conduct systematic fault-finding and identify the root cause of equipment failures.

Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.

Perform inspections and maintenance in accordance with planned maintenance schedules.

Assist with the installation, commissioning, modification and relocation of machinery and equipment.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, manuals and technical documentation.

Conduct testing and verification following repairs and maintenance activities.

Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained to required safety, quality and production standards.

Record maintenance activities, breakdowns, repairs and parts used.

Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective or preventative actions.

Work closely with Production and other departments to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Participate in continuous improvement and root-cause analysis initiatives.

Maintain a clean, safe and organised maintenance work area.

Comply with all company policies, procedures and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

ARTISAN AID RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate must have practical experience working with an Artisan Aid and will be expected to:

Provide day-to-day technical guidance and direction to the Artisan Aid.

Allocate appropriate maintenance and housekeeping tasks to the Artisan Aid.

Demonstrate correct maintenance procedures and safe working practices.

Ensure the Artisan Aid understands and follows applicable safety procedures.

Supervise the Artisan Aid during maintenance activities where required.

Develop the Artisan Aid's practical knowledge and technical capabilities through on-the-job coaching.

Monitor the quality of work performed by the Artisan Aid.

Ensure tools, equipment and materials are used correctly and safely.

Provide feedback to the relevant supervisor regarding the Artisan Aid's progress, performance and development.

Promote a strong culture of teamwork, safety, accountability and continuous learning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualified Millwright with a recognised Trade Test Certificate.

Minimum 5 years' post-trade experience in a manufacturing, industrial or production environment.

Proven experience maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical production equipment.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Practical experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Proven experience working with, guiding and/or supervising an Artisan Aid.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

Knowledge of preventative and planned maintenance practices.

Good understanding of machinery safety and lockout procedures.

Ability to work independently and under pressure.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Willingness to work shifts, overtime, standby and attend to breakdowns when required.

ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

Experience within an automotive manufacturing / CNC machining environment will be highly advantageous.
