Millwright (Refrigeration)

Astral, a leading South African integrated poultry producer, has Millwright (Refrigeration) opportunity at County Fair, Primary Processing Plant Fisantekraal.

The primary focus of this position is to perform routine and scheduled maintenance in the plant, including the ammonia plant.

Qualifications

• Valid Category A - Ammonia license (minimum requirement).
• Trade Certificate: Millwright or Electrical Trade Certificate.
• Education: Minimum N3 qualification in the relevant field.
• Advantageous Additions -PLC, VSD's and Soft-Starter certificate or experience

Experience

• Previous experience in a refrigeration plant, ammonia plant is a key requirement
• Computer literacy: basic MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook)

The Ideal Candidate Would Be Responsible For

• Maintenance & Repairs:

• Perform routine, scheduled, electrical, and mechanical maintenance on plant machinery.
• Repair and lubricate machinery and equipment; fix basic electrical circuitry and components.
• Ensure electrical reticulation is kept in good working order.

• Installation & Upgrades:

• Dismantle, move, assemble, install, and align equipment and machinery.
• Handle new installations, modifications, upgrades, and system repairs.

• Safety & Emergency Operations:

• Maintain plant and equipment in a safe, acceptable overall condition.
• Undergo training to assist with search and rescue operations in the ammonia refrigeration plant room in the event of an ammonia leak or emergency.

• Operations & Compliance:

• Stand in for the Foreman and Operators when necessary.
• Implement 20 Keys, HACCP, and Risk Control measures while upholding general housekeeping rules.

General Requirements

• Strong team player capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
• Fluent in English and an additional official language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly pressurized, deadline-driven environment.
• Must have own reliable transport.
