Millwright: Utilities

Position Summary

To maintain, troubleshoot, repair, install, and optimize utility plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all utility systems supporting production and site services.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance

Perform preventative, planned, and breakdown maintenance on utility equipment.

Repair and overhaul pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, valves, conveyors, and associated machinery.

Electrical Maintenance

Diagnose and repair electrical faults on motors, drives, control panels, and instrumentation.

Perform motor testing, cable termination, and control circuit troubleshooting.

Maintain Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), soft starters, MCCs, and electrical distribution equipment.

Utilities Systems Maintenance

• Maintain boilers and steam generation systems.
• Service refrigeration and chilled water systems.
• Maintain compressed air systems, including compressors and dryers.
• Maintain water treatment plants, pumps, filtration systems, and cooling towers.
• Ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently and reliably.

Reliability and Continuous Improvement

• Conduct root cause analysis on recurring breakdowns.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities to increase equipment reliability.

Safety and Compliance

• Adhere to company safety standards and legal requirements.
• Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act regulations and engineering standards.
• Participate in risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

• Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (Red Seal preferred).
• N4-N6 Engineering Studies (advantageous).
• Refrigeration, Boiler Operations, or Utilities-related certifications (advantageous).
