Job description
We've read a lot of job applications. We've also watched a lot of bad ads. We'd like to stop doing both.
99c is a full-service agency in Cape Town, and we're looking for a Mid-weight TTL Copywriter to work on one of South Africa's biggest retail accounts.
You're the writer who doesn't treat ATL and digital as separate disciplines, because they're not. You move between a TVC concept and a web banner headline without losing momentum or voice. You understand that a retail leaflet is still an opportunity, and you're constitutionally incapable of letting it be boring.
You'll provide concepts and write across radio, TV, print, POS, OOH, social, newsletters, and web, and you'll care about all of it equally. You'll work inside a creative team that argues about ideas because it loves them.
If your portfolio makes people stop scrolling, we want to hear from you.
Minimum relevant experience and skills/attributes required:
- An eye for detail, ability to work well under pressure, as well as being up to date with the latest digital marketing, social media trends, and technologies are essential requirements
- Working closely with an art director to generate creative ideas and concepts to fulfil the client's brief
- Producing scripts and concepts with visual aids and references to communicate ideas to the client
- Gaining an understanding of the target audience and business which the advert/campaign is targeted at
- Sound knowledge of the digital landscape – with an ability to locate opportunities to tactically amplify the campaign
- Knowing the difference between ad units – and having the attention to detail to ensure you are providing all the correct specifications from the get-go
- Meeting with the creative director and account managers before presenting ideas to clients
- Pitching ideas to clients (as a copywriter, you will be relied on heavily during presentations, making good presentation skills vital)
Technical skills/knowledge:
- TTL Copywriting with a strong background in Digital
- Carry out conceptual and writing skills from initial brief to final artwork
- Strong digital writing portfolio
- Strong conceptual ability
- Great presentation skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Committed, collaborative team player
- Proficient in: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- FIGMA experience advantageous, but not essential
Experience:
- At least 4 years’ experience as a TTL copywriter in an advertising agency a must
- Experience with digital copywriting essential
- Experience with social media writing, specifications and best practice
- Experience in high-volume environments with fast turnarounds preferred
Qualification:
- A completed tertiary qualification in Copywriting/Writing/Brand Building
