Are you an experienced network engineering professional with a passion for designing and maintaining high-performance, secure connectivity environments?
Lesaka Merchant is looking for a NETWORK ENGINEER to join our Merchants Operations Division. This role is ideal for a technically skilled individual who can ensure reliable connectivity across all sites, cloud environments, and merchant endpoints.
Job purpose
To design, implement and maintain network and connectivity infrastructure across the Merchant Division, ensuring high availability, performance and secure connectivity across all locations, cloud environments and merchant endpoints.
Key Responsibility Areas
Network Operations & Availability
- Monitor and maintain WAN/LAN, VPN and connectivity environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and outages
- Ensure continuous network availability across all sites
- Support infrastructure monitoring and alert response
- Maintain network uptime and performance
Network Engineering & Configuration
- Configure routers, switches, firewalls and network devices
- Implement network architecture designs and improvements
- Manage network segmentation and security controls
- Maintain configuration standards and documentation
- Support network upgrades and changes
Connectivity & Telecom Management
- Manage connectivity providers and telecom services
- Monitor SIM estate and mobile connectivity performance
- Resolve connectivity issues across merchant locations
- Track and manage bandwidth utilisation
- Support onboarding of new sites and devices
Network Optimisation & Performance
- Analyse network performance metrics and trends
- Identify bottlenecks and optimise traffic flows
- Improve latency and throughput across networks
- Support cost optimisation initiatives
- Implement performance improvements
Incident Support & Collaboration
- Support major incidents involving network infrastructure
- Collaborate with cloud, security and application teams
- Provide network insights during troubleshooting
- Assist in root cause analysis
- Support disaster recovery activities
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Information Systems, IT or related field
- 3–6 years network engineering experience
- Certifications / Advantageous
- CCNA / CCNP
- Fortinet / Palo Alto (advantageous)
