Role Overview 📝 As a Network Ops Shift Manager, you lead the shift and take key operational decisions to keep our middle-mile collections network running smoothly and on budget. You will guide, motivate, and coach your team in a fast-paced environment, stepping in with real-time problem solving to keep parcel movements on track, maintain high standards, and bring out the best in your staff.

This is an on-site role embedded in the day-to-day operations. The shifts for this role are a 4 days on, 3 days off shift pattern which will require you to work one day on the weekend. Our Ops Run team is organised into roles of different levels: this is a level 4 role reporting into the Network Operations Manager.

What You’ll Be Doing 🚀

• Lead and manage the shift on the ground, keeping our middle-mile collections network running on time and on budget.
• Act as the on-shift expert, making key real-time decisions to resolve issues and re-plan collection routes as needed.
• Monitor live shift performance and communicate directly with shippers to provide updates and handle exceptions.
• Direct driver set-off from Redditch to ensure smooth, punctual collection dispatch.
• Coach, brief, and develop your team of Associates through active feedback and clear shift handovers.
• Own shift reporting, track continuous improvements, and ensure full compliance with safety and carrier standards.

What We’re Looking For 🔎

• Proven operational expertise in middle-mile or line-haul transportation
• Strong leadership presence – able to motivate a team under pressure and hold people accountable
• Excellent communication skills; able to give clear instructions and challenge constructively
• Highly adaptable – comfortable making quick decisions in a dynamic environment without much oversight at night
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyse root causes and implement fixes
• Proficient in operational systems, Excel/Google Sheets for reporting and basic analysis
• Minimum 2–4 years experience in supply chain/logistics, with at least 1 year in a supervisory/team lead role

• Competitive market-related salary. Including the opportunity to work overtime when required. Night roles are also paid an additional 10% night allowance.
