• Network Systems Engineer

Are you a results driven network specialist with a passion for building and scaling systems that keep a fast growing telco running smoothly? Join our Technology team as a Network Systems Engineer in Plattekloof, where you'll take ownership of the implementation, support and maintenance of all network systems, and drive the automation tools that scale our network operations.

This role is perfect for someone who loves solving complex network problems, thrives on documentation and structure, and wants to grow their career at the intersection of networking, systems and automation.

What you'll do:

• Set up, install, configure, support and maintain all network related systems
• Build and provide the network automation tools required to scale network operations
• Keep accurate documentation and diagrams of network systems and integrations
• Collaborate with technology, operations and business systems teams to ensure cross functional compatibility and integration
• Drive adoption of new network systems and automation tools
• Continuously review system output and performance, making incremental improvements
• Build systems using design and framework plans, measuring progress against short and medium term goals
• Partner with network architects, engineering, monitoring and transmission teams as the systems specialist
• Work with end users to identify and implement system improvements
• Manage suppliers and vendors to ensure network system needs are met
• Troubleshoot and resolve network systems, hardware and software issues efficiently
• Test and evaluate new and self built systems in a test lab environment to keep the technology stack current

What you'll need:

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE or RHCE are highly desirable
• Industry related qualifications in networks, systems or security
• A minimum of 3 years' experience deploying and administrating IT or network management systems
• Advanced experience with the Linux operating system and server environments
• Skill in database design and implementation for high availability environments
• A deep understanding of networking and network design principles
• Experience with platforms such as ACS, Zabbix, Graylog, The Dude, Ansible, Splunk, AWS hosting, Proxmox or Grafana is advantageous
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
