Job description

1. Role Purpose

The Mid-Level Network & Security Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of customer network and security environments, with a primary focus on Fortinet technologies.

The successful candidate will provide technical support to customers covered under Managed Services Agreements (MSA/SLA), as well as ad-hoc support engagements. The role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, a customer-centric mindset, and proven experience in both networking and cybersecurity. The engineer will act as a trusted technical resource, ensuring customer environments remain secure, available, and aligned with best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Managed Services Support

Provide remote and onsite support to customers covered under Managed Services Agreements.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve networking and security incidents.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions where required.
Ensure customer incidents and requests are handled within agreed SLA targets.
Escalate complex issues to senior engineers where necessary.

Network Security Administration

Manage and maintain FortiGate security appliances.
Configure and troubleshoot firewall policies, NAT, VPNs, routing, and security profiles.
Perform firmware upgrades, configuration reviews, and health checks.
Maintain secure configurations aligned to industry and vendor best practices.
Assist customers with compliance and security-related recommendations.

Network Support

Support LAN, WAN, wireless, and SD-WAN environments.
Troubleshoot routing, switching, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, and connectivity issues.
Monitor network performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Assist with network capacity planning and operational optimisation.

Security Operations

Investigate security alerts and suspicious activity.
Support endpoint security solutions such as FortiClient EMS.
Assist with vulnerability remediation and security hardening activities.
Maintain awareness of emerging threats and security best practices.

Customer Relationship Management

Act as a trusted technical advisor to assigned customers.
Conduct periodic customer reviews and technical health assessments.
Provide clear communication, documentation, and incident updates.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through professional service delivery.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records.
Document incident resolution and troubleshooting procedures.

Assist with monthly service reporting and customer reviews where required

Pay: R17 270,87 - R30 000,00 per month
