NOC Engineer – Evening and Weekend Shifts

Cyber83 is looking for motivated and technically capable NOC Engineers to join our growing Network Operations Centre.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, monitoring critical infrastructure and working with modern networking and security technologies. You will be responsible for monitoring our customers’ environments, responding to alerts, troubleshooting network incidents and ensuring that issues are properly documented, escalated and resolved.

Available Shifts

Weekday evening shift: 16:30 to 00:00

Weekend shifts: Additional Saturday and Sunday shifts are available

Applicants must be comfortable working outside standard business hours and participating in a structured shift environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor customer networks, firewalls, connectivity and infrastructure
• Investigate network, availability and performance alerts
• Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, DNS, DHCP and firewall-related incidents
• Perform initial incident triage and escalate complex issues when required
• Communicate clearly with customers, service providers and internal technical teams
• Create, update and manage support tickets throughout the incident lifecycle
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, network records and asset information
• Follow NOC procedures, escalation processes and service-level agreements
• Assist with network changes, maintenance activities and technical projects
• Conduct proper shift handovers and ensure that outstanding incidents are followed through
• Continuously develop knowledge of networking, firewalls, monitoring platforms and cybersecurity technologies

Minimum Requirements

• Matric or equivalent qualification
• One to two years of hands-on networking or NOC experience
• A good understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS
• Experience troubleshooting LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, fibre, ADSL and mobile connectivity
• Working knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
• Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Own reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence are essential
• Ability to work the required evening or weekend shifts

Certifications and Technical Knowledge

The following certifications or qualifications will be advantageous:

• CompTIA A+
• CompTIA Network+
• CompTIA Security+
• Cisco CCNA or CCNP
• CEH
• Relevant BSc degree, diploma or technical qualification
• Linux knowledge or experience
• Experience with Cisco networking technologies
• Experience with Fortinet FortiGate
• Experience with Sophos UTM, Sophos XG or Sophos Firewall
• Experience with network monitoring and ticketing platforms

Certifications are beneficial, but practical ability, technical curiosity and a willingness to learn are equally important.
