About the Position
Cultura Fresh is looking for a proactive and hands-on Nursery Sowing & Inventory Supervisor to join our Cultivation team in Klapmuts.
The successful candidate will lead the nursery sowing team, coordinate the weekly sowing programme, and ensure that the correct seed varieties are accurately prepared, sown and transferred to the nursery. This role also oversees nursery stock control, inventory management and GLOBALG.A.P. documentation, ensuring operational efficiency, traceability and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and motivate the nursery sowing team to achieve weekly production targets.
- Plan and allocate daily work according to the approved sowing programme.
- Prepare and issue the correct seed varieties and quantities for production.
- Monitor sowing accuracy, productivity and quality throughout each shift.
- Ensure trays are correctly labelled and transferred safely to the nursery.
- Maintain accurate records of seed usage, sowing activities and production variances.
- Conduct weekly and monthly stocktakes of seeds, growing media, trays, T-markers and nursery consumables.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate stock discrepancies.
- Ensure nursery materials are stored correctly and minimise wastage.
- Maintain high hygiene standards and ensure seedling trays are properly cleaned and disinfected.
- Complete and maintain all GLOBALG.A.P. documentation and traceability records.
- Assist with internal and external audits and implement corrective actions where required.
Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience in agriculture, horticulture, nursery production or a similar operational environment.
- Experience working with seeds, seedlings, nurseries or crop production.
- Strong planning, organisational and inventory management skills.
- Good numerical ability and attention to detail.
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement weekly sowing programmes.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Ability to work flexible hours according to operational requirements.
Advantageous
- Qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, Nursery Management or a related field.
- Experience with commercial vegetable seedlings or lettuce seed production.
- Knowledge of seed traceability and batch control.
- Previous GLOBALG.A.P. compliance or audit experience.
- Experience monitoring labour productivity and production targets.
