Ocean Freight Coordinator
Location: Johannesburg
Employment Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Reload Logistics is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Coordinator to join our growing operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating international ocean freight shipments, liaising with shipping lines, customs teams, transport providers, and clients, while ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant freight movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international ocean freight shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Book cargo with shipping lines and arrange container allocations and transport to and from ports.
- Source and negotiate competitive freight rates with shipping lines.
- Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin.
- Capture freight rates and shipment information accurately in Salesforce.
- Maintain current freight rate schedules and shipment cost reports.
- Track shipments and provide regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines and service providers.
- Resolve shipment delays, operational issues, and customer queries promptly.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and filing of shipment documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in freight forwarding, ocean freight, logistics, or supply chain.
- Sound knowledge of:
- Ocean freight operations
- Incoterms
- International shipping procedures
- Freight documentation
- Experience using Salesforce or similar logistics systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments while working under pressure.
