Job description

Basic Requirements:

  • Formal Tertiary education : Diploma or Degree in Education, Customer Service, Communications, Business Administration or similar advantageous
  • Experience : 2–5 years in Customer Support, Customer Success, Education, Community Engagement or Client Relationship Management
  • Driver’s License : Required
  • Languages : English (additional South African languages advantageous)

Travel : Travel to schools across South Africa, including rural and under-resourced communities

Role overview:

The Parent Liaison is responsible for managing the parent relationship throughout the Omang journey, from the initial introduction of Omang at newly onboarded schools through to ongoing remote support and engagement.

The role serves as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, ensuring they understand the purpose and benefits of Omang, feel confident supporting their child’s use of the device, and receive responsive and professional assistance throughout the programme.

The Parent Liaison will work across both sponsored school projects and the Omang Subscriber Network, combining in-person parent engagement with ongoing remote customer support. The role requires regular travel to new Omang schools, including under-resourced communities, to conduct parent information and onboarding sessions.

Key Objectives:

  • Build strong and positive relationships with parents and guardians throughout the Omang journey.
  • Lead initial parent engagement and onboarding at newly implemented Omang schools.
  • Ensure parents understand Omang’s educational purpose, functionality, expectations and benefits.
  • Provide exceptional ongoing after-sales and remote support to parents and guardians.
  • Troubleshoot Omang device, account and user challenges and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Monitor learner engagement and proactively communicate relevant progress and usage information to parents.
  • Encourage parents to support consistent learner engagement and positive learning habits at home.
  • Coordinate with internal Operations, Technical, Project and Engagement teams to provide a seamless parent and learner experience.
  • Contribute towards parent satisfaction, learner engagement and subscription retention.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Parent onboarding: Visit newly onboarded schools, introduce Omang, demonstrate the platform and devices, explain expectations and responsibilities, and build parent confidence and excitement.
  • Relationship management: Act as the main contact for parents, providing professional, responsive and consistent support across phone, WhatsApp, email and other channels.
  • Customer and technical support: Help with setup, activation, accounts, subscriptions and basic troubleshooting, while escalating complex technical issues and following them through to resolution.
  • Learner engagement: Monitor usage, identify inactive or disengaged learners, communicate with parents, encourage good study habits and celebrate learner achievements.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate parent and learner information, support subscriptions and renewals, and ensure required documentation is complete.
  • Parent education and communication: Keep parents informed about Omang features, updates, campaigns and learning opportunities, while providing simple guides and FAQs.
  • Monitoring and reporting: Track support requests, response times, parent communication and learner engagement trends, and provide management with insights and feedback.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify recurring challenges, gather parent feedback and work with internal teams to improve the overall user experience, parent satisfaction, learner engagement and retention.
  • Scalability: Help establish efficient, repeatable parent-support processes that can grow as the Omang school and subscriber network expands.
