The Role: Office Hygienist-Cleaner
Job Profile
The incumbent will act as an Office Hygienist / Cleaner within Henry Fagan (Pty) Ltd, responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and orderly office environment that supports the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees and visitors. The role contributes to a professional workplace image through consistent cleaning standards, attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
The Office Cleaner / Hygienist plays an essential role in supporting daily office operations by ensuring all workspaces, communal areas, and facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
This position reports to an Officer Manager or designated Manager.
The incumbent will be based in the Johannesburg Office and may be required to work flexible or irregular hours to meet operational requirements.
Responsibilities
Office Cleaning and Hygiene Maintenance
- Maintain the entire office space in a clean, tidy, and orderly condition.
- Clean, stock, and service designated areas, including offices, boardrooms, kitchens, restrooms, and communal spaces.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wiping surfaces, and emptying waste bins.
- Tackle deep or heavy cleaning tasks as requested.
Facilities and Supplies Support
- Stock and maintain cleaning supply rooms, storerooms, and hygiene consumables.
- Mix, use, and dispose of cleaning solutions in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Assist with the preparation, supply, and delivery of refreshments for employees and clients when required.
Inspection, Safety, and Compliance
- Perform and document routine inspections of cleaning and hygiene standards.
- Identify and report maintenance issues, damages, or repairs required to management.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and procedures at all times.
General Office Support
- Cooperate with office staff to maintain a clean and professional working environment.
- Assist with basic administrative or office support tasks as required.
- Support operational needs through ad hoc duties aligned with the firm’s requirements.
Qualification & Experience
- No formal education requirements.
- Previous experience in an office, commercial, or professional cleaning environment (advantageous).
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and proper storage and disposal methods.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual cleaning tasks.
- High level of reliability, integrity, and professionalism.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
