Role Description The Oncology Nurse at Strathmon House will provide specialized nursing care to individuals undergoing cancer treatment in an on-site clinical setting located in Modderfontein. This full-time role includes assessing patients, administering chemotherapy and other oncology treatments, monitoring for adverse reactions, and coordinating care plans with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The Oncology Nurse will educate patients and families about treatment options, side-effect management, and self-care, while documenting clinical information accurately and maintaining high standards of infection prevention and safety. Daily responsibilities also involve collaborating with colleagues to ensure compassionate, evidence-based care and supporting quality improvement initiatives within the clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to apply evidence-based practices in oncology care.
• Specialized expertise in Oncology Nursing and Patient Care, including assessment, care planning, and psychosocial support.
• Demonstrated competency in Chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and safe handling protocols.
• Valid nursing registration/licensure and completion of an accredited nursing program; oncology certification is an advantage.
• Experience in an oncology or acute care setting, with familiarity in multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to person-centered, culturally sensitive care.
• Ability to work on-site in Modderfontein on a full-time basis, manage demanding clinical workloads, and respond effectively in emergencies.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development, adherence to ethical standards, and compliance with regulatory and safety guidelines.
• Knowlegde in Icon and Saoc protocols
• Mixing of chemotherapy or willingness to obtain certificate
• Administration of chemotherapy
